Brain Basics Registration Deadline

 

Please find attached registration information for the educational training course “Brain Basics” presented by the Ontario Brain Injury Association.  Please forward to your network - this course is ideal for health providers, caregivers and people with lived experience with acquired brain injury. 

 

Brain Basics:  A Training Program for Health Care Workers and Caregivers of Acquired Brain Injury  -  March 6th and 7th , 2018    Orangeville ON

Registration deadline is February 20, 2018

The Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA) and the Headwaters Acquired Brain Injury Group (volunteer group affiliated with OBIA) would like to invite you to an exciting continuing education event for health care workers, caregivers / family members, and individuals with lived experience with acquired brain injury.  This training course will be presented by John Kumpf, former executive director of the Ontario Brain Injury Association.  A certificate of completion will be provided to all persons who successfully complete the program.  Don't miss this opportunity to receive the latest information and training in acquired brain injury - without having to travel outside of the Headwaters region (the course will be presented at the Dufferin Child and Family Services building in Orangeville). 

Goals of the program:

  • acquisition of practical strategies to work effectively with individuals living with the effects of abi
  • understand the roles of the various people who form the team responsible for the recovery and well-being of the person with an abi
  • appreciate the consequences of an acquired brain injury
  • appreciate the complexity of the structure and function of the brain
  • survivors and caregivers will share their personal stories during a panel discussion on the second day
